Cliff Shin embarked on the Nouveau project in April 2009 in Champaign, and after months of research and development, the design was completed in August 2010. Throughout the design process, the challenge of incorporating the flower vase concept into the toilet bowl was overcome, resulting in a seamless and aesthetically pleasing integration.

The Nouveau toilet bowl has received recognition for its exceptional design. In 2014, it was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware category. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate innovation, practicality, and adherence to professional and industrial requirements.
